Start Crossover Office, and then click the large button marked Install a Windows Application. How to install Windows apps on a Mac using Crossover Office If the app you want to install runs on all versions of Windows from Vista up until Windows 10, then creating a Vista bottle will very likely provide the best possible experience. However, the rule about older software being better supported applies here too. You might choose to create a Windows 8 bottle in order install an app, for example. Normally when you install a Windows app using Crossover Office you’ll install it into a fresh bottle of its own, which is isolated from the rest of the system, although existing bottles can be used more than once.īecause there are many different versions of Windows – from Windows XP up to Windows 10 – there are readymade bottles to match each. It’s actually very simple – a bottle is just a fake C: drive, just like you might find on an actual PC, complete with all the folders you might find there such as C:windows, or C:Users.Ĭrucially, however, it also includes the correct system components that allow that Windows apps to run. I’m running Mojave 10.14.6 on a 27" 2017 iMac.The key to installing Windows software using Crossover Office is understanding what a bottle is, because upon installing anything you’ll be asked to create one. When I go through the routine the next day, the window size goes back to 2560x1440 for the first login. Easy enough to manually quit each of them, but I shouldn’t have to do that. When I get done I have 5 empty instances of Wine and one instance of Wine Preloader still running in the background. My daily routine includes logging into each one in succession, grabbing whatever loot CCP is giving away, redeeming it, quitting, and on to the next account. This is great, but it appears to be caused by zombie processes. Since the last update, when I log into one account and change the window size, the preferred size is remembered when I quit the game and start another instance of the client for another account. But if I quit the game, the software doesn’t remember that I changed the window size. I generally have to remember to change the window size in the client settings before I log in, and that works fine. At least, that’s the size almost every time I start the client. Wine, or the launcher or the client, or some combination thereof, does not seem able to remember what size window I want when I log in. This is not a huge deal (I have a work around) but it’s mildly annoying. We know this will be an inconvenience for players with multiple accounts and do apologize. Until such time as we can ferret out the core problems, please manually close those windows from the dock on exit. We are investigating immediate solutions to both issues now, but this will be the situation at least into next week. You must quit these manually to end the processes. The other indicator is an wine64-preloader exec icon in the dock for the (not visible) “Program Error” window.
